One of the biggest tools to harness when on the path to personal growth and achievement is balance. When you start to see results or you start reaching your staggered goals, it’s really easy to become submerged in your newly found passions and interests. To a degree this is needed to sustain your motivation and keep yourself forging forward when times get difficult, but don’t let it take over your life. Make sure you keep time for your other priorities; such as family and friends.
The other balance to master is to not beat yourself up for trip ups or finding the journey difficult. Willpower and motivation are required in high doses to meet the challenges set, but some days will be harder than others and along the way we might not meet the staggered goals we’ve set ourselves.
Not letting yourself off from time to time can place unrealistic pressure which not only takes all the fun and sense of development out of the goal, but also produces a bigger risk of just jacking it all in and putting it on the back burner again. Make sure you’re giving yourself breaks, rest days and not beating yourself up if you don’t quite hit the target.
Practice phrases to tell yourself in those moments you’re feeling like giving up “tomorrows a new day”, “I’ll keep trying” or “not everyday is going to be easy”.
